Knobby clubrush: neurobiologia e arte robótica

Abstract

This article will present the artwork Knobby Clubrush, based on the scientific concept of neurobiology. For this field of science, plants are like collective intelligences, or compared to the animal world they are swarm intelligences. This characteristic means that a plant can be seen not as an individuality, but as an assemblage. Within this logic, various behavioral characteristics and the formal evolutionary solutions of plants can be incorporated for the development of robotic art. Therefore, the article presents the foundations of neurobiology and how they can be transposed to the development of robotics as poetics based on a concrete example. Knobby Clubrush is an aesthetic object built within this model, and in this artwork, it is used as a reference for arguments about neurobiology and robotic art.
