| Resumen: | Resumo: Uma das primeiras etapas para a construção de um vocabulário controlado (VC) é a seleção e a validação dos termos que serão incluídos no instrumento. Entre os princípios mais antigos que são utilizados para esse processo está a garantia literária, introduzido pela primeira vez por Hulme (1911), o qual parte do pressuposto de que essa seleção deve fundamentar-se na literatura da área, com os termos mais representativos, de uma forma empírica, no caso, selecionados a partir de documento. Considerando que esse princípio não tem sido muito estudado, vista a incipiência da literatura sobre o tema, principalmente com o surgimento de novos sistemas de organização do conhecimento (SOC) e as novas tecnologias, este estudo baseia-se na seguinte questão: as contribuições do princípio da garantia literária de Hulme (1911) são seguidas na seleção e validaçãoda terminologia de um domínio para sua representação no contexto atual? Destarte, o objetivo deste artigo é lançar um olhar na literatura sobre os estudos que evidenciem uma metodologia para sua aplicação, com critérios para sua utilização correta, principalmente para acompanhar o surgimento de novos sistemas de organização do conhecimento e a contribuição das tecnologias. Para tanto, realizou-se uma pesquisa bibliográfica sobre o tema nas bases de dados da área, fez-se a análise de todas as referências bibliográficas recuperadas, selecionaram-se as mais relevantes e deu-se seguimento à condensação dosconteúdos, ao seu registro, e à elaboração do texto. A metodologia se caracteriza como exploratória e analítico-descritiva, pois seus resultados apontam para a necessidade de estudos futuros, já que o objetivo proposto foi parcialmente alcançado. Como resultado, a partir da análise da literatura, ficou evidenciado que existe uma lacuna temporal nas publicações, o que acarretou uma incipiência de estudos na área. Verificou-se, também, que existe necessidade de pesquisar mais os procedimentos de uso do princípio garantia literária. Ao final, apresenta-se como contribuição uma definição de garantia literária, sugerida a partir daliteratura analisada. Palavras-chave: Validação Semântica. Representação do Conhecimento. | Abstract: | Abstract: One of the first steps in building a controlled vocabulary (VC) is theselection and validation of terms that will be included in the instrument. Among theoldest principle that are used for this process is the literary warrant, first introducedby Hulme (1911), who assumes that this selection must be based on the literature ofthe area, with the most representative terms, empirically, in this case, selected fromthe document. Considering that this principle has not been studied much, given theincipience of the literature on the subject, especially with the emergence of newknowledge organization systems (SOC) and new technologies, this study is based onthe following question: the contributions of Hulme´s (1911) literary warrantprinciple is followed in selecting and validating the terminology of a domain for itsrepresentation in the current context? Thus, the objective of this article is to take alook at the literature on studies that show a methodology for its application, withcriteria for its correct use, mainly to accompany the emergence of new knowledgeorganization systems and the contribution of technologies. Therefore, a bibliographicresearch was carried out on the subject in the databases of the area, all thebibliographic references retrieved were analyzed, the most relevant ones wereselected and the condensation of the contents followed their registration and theelaboration of the text. The methodology is characterized as exploratory andanalytical-descriptive, as its results point to the need for future studies, since thethe proposed objective was partially achieved. As a result, the analysis of theliterature, it became evident that there is a temporal gap in the publications, whichled to an incipient study in the area. It was also verified that there is a need to furtherresearch the procedures for using the literary warrant principle.
