| Abstract: | Em 21 de setembro de 1913, inaugura-se um monumento a Anita Garibaldi, de João Bassi, em Belo Horizonte, cidade que contava com extensa comunidade italiana. Entrecruzando-se os caminhos percorridos pela escultura no solo urbano da capital mineira e as narrativas presentes em jornais sobre a personagem, busca-se analisar as representações vigentes da mulher Anita Garibaldi nas primeiras décadas do século XX, abordando-se, sob uma perspectiva temporal estendida, alguns monumentos mais contemporâneos. A figura de Anita aparece ora como a grande heroína, ora como a mulher que não representa um ideal de feminilidade a ser seguido. Da heroína mítica à mulher com condutas e moral questionáveis, são muitas as Anitas e obras que representam estas disputas nos lócus urbanos. |
| Abstract: | On september 21, 1913, a monument to Anita Garibaldi was inaugurated in Belo Horizonte, city that had an extensive italian community. Through the path made by the sculputure in the capital of Minas Gerais and the newspapers’ narratives about the character, we seek to analyse the Anita Garibaldi representations during the first decades of XXth century, including some more contemporary monuments. The figure of Anita Garibaldi appears sometimes an a great heroine, sometimes as a woman who does not represent an ideal of femininity to be followed. From the mythical heroine to the woman with questionable behavior and morals, there are lots of Anitas and monuments that represent these representation’s disputes in urban locus. |
