Abstract: | The article explores aspects of biopolitics, necropolitics and sexuality based on Michel Foucault and Achille Mbembe. The central question is: how does sexuality operate in the diagrams of biopolitic, in Foucault, and necropolitic, in Mbembe? The objective is to explore the convergences and divergences of the status of sexuality in the bibliography of Mbembe and Foucault, establishing a dialogue with tangential concepts to necropolitics to underline its political-epistemological productivity to research engaged in sexual identity and gender policies. Conceptually, it proposes distinctions about the way sexuality operates in biopolitical and necropolitical diagrams, indicating different ways of approach to body, life, death and politics in both. It concludes with the suggestion that the formulations on necropolitics of Mbembe, articulated to Foucauldian biopolitics and decoloniality, allow the conceptual appointment, and its corresponding analytical scrutiny, of the promotion of the death of non-cisheterosexual people. |
