| Abstract: | O presente trabalho relata um estudo piloto dos efeitos produzidos no som do violino pela utilização de três diferentes surdinas. Emprega-se a análise espectral digital como ferramenta para aferir as modificações geradas no espectro do som (variação na intensidade das parciais harmônicas) das quatro cordas soltas do instrumento sem e com a utilização das três surdinas. A partir dos efeitos percebidos no som e sua descrição objetivada pela análise espectral, relaciona-se tais alterações com o funcionamento conhecido do cavalete, peça essencial na composição do timbre do instrumento, levantando-se questões passíveis de futuros estudos, tais como: objetivação da descrição do timbre, compreensão de como as características físicas da surdina vão determinar seu efeito no som do instrumento a partir da alteração da vibração normal do cavalete e a utilização do estudo de tais variações como meio para ampliar o conhecimento acerca do funcionamento acústico do instrumento. |
| Abstract: | This paper describes a pilot study of the effects produced on the violin sound by using three different mutes. Digital spectral analysis was used as a tool to measure the changes generated in the sound spectrum (variation in the intensity of harmonic partials) of the four loose strings of the instrument with and without the use of the three mutes. From the perceived effects on the sound and its objectified description by spectral analysis, the relationship between such changes with the known operation of the bridge, an essential piece in the instrument's timbre composition, is explored, rising issues subjected to future studies, such as the objective description of timbre, understanding how the physical characteristics of the mute will determine its effect on the sound of the instrument from the change in the normal stand vibration and the use of the study of such variations as a means to increase knowledge about the sound operation of the instrument. |
