Resumo: Introduction: treated wastewater (TWW) may have sufficient nutrient content that is totally or partially sufficient for crop requirements. Its use may also be a feasible means of increasing water availability, reducing consumption of clean water, controlling pollution, preserving the environment, and economizing fertilizer use. This study evaluated the yield and physico-chemical quality of pineapple fruit fertigated with TWW. Materials and methods: this study used randomized blocks with four replications in a split-plot arrangement. The plots included five application rates of TWW, corresponding to 0%, 100%, 200%, 300%, and 400% of the maximum annual limit of Na applied to the soil (150 kg ha-1), resulting in TWW irrigation depths of 0, 117.3, 234.1, 351.4, and 468.3 mm, respectively. The split-plots held the pineapple cultivars ‘Perola’, ‘Vitoria’, ‘Smooth Cayenne’, and ‘IAC Fantastico’. Vegetative, productive and postharvest traits were evaluated. Results and discussion: TWW fertigation in all pineapple cultivars produced similar results to the control. It was also found to be economically and environmentally viable, reducing the use of nitrogen and potassium fertilization, and clean water by 15.5%, 16%, and 26%, respectively, as well as providing a suitable use for waste. Conclusions: ‘Perola’ pineapple provided superior yield at the given planting density and environment conditions. Fertigation with TWW in pineapple leads to fruit yields with similar quality to that produced by management with mineral fertilization and clean water. Thus, TWW fertigation of pineapple during the vegetative stage is an agronomically viable alternative.
