| Abstract: | A presente tese teve como principal objetivo estudar a relação entre acordes musicais e as respectivas emoções evocadas por eles utilizando-se a base teórica da Análise Experimental do Comportamento. Para tal, a tese foi composta de três artigos. O primeiro artigo foi uma revisão de escopo feita com artigos revisados por pares publicados entre os anos de 2005 e 2023. As palavras-chave utilizadas foram os verbetes Chords AND Emotions. Ao todo, 11 artigos foram selecionados. Os resultados obtidos indicaram que todos os artigos utilizaram medidas de autorrelato em seus procedimentos e que a habilidade de relacionar acordes a suas respectivas emoções estava presente na maioria das populações investigadas. O segundo artigo foi um experimento no qual os aspectos emocionais dos acordes foram utilizados como base em um procedimento de fading-out para o ensino da relação entre acordes e seus respectivos rótulos. Em outras palavras, nesse artigo foi utilizada a relação condicional entre acordes maiores-faces felizes e acordes menores-faces tristes para o ensino da relação acordes maiores-palavra MAIOR e acordes menores-palavra MENOR. Os resultados obtidos indicaram que 10 participantes conseguiram aprender essa nova habilidade. Além disso, houve generalização para estímulos similares (acordes maiores e menores novos) e para trechos e progressões maiores e menores (habilidade não treinada). Por fim, o terceiro artigo foi um artigo experimental no qual foi investigada a transferência de função entre acordes musicais e figuras abstratas em um procedimento de equivalência de estímulos com participantes universitários. Ao todo, participaram do procedimento 37 participantes, sendo 30 participantes atribuídos ao grupo Controle e sete ao grupo Experimental. Os resultados obtidos indicaram que todos os participantes do grupo Experimental que realizaram as etapas de treino foram capazes de formar classes de equivalência. Além disso, a transferência de função foi verificada por meio de um diferencial semântico. Os resultados indicaram que a figura abstrata relacionada aos acordes maiores foi classificada com adjetivos de valência positiva e a figura abstrata relacionada aos acordes menores foi classificada com adjetivos de valência negativa. |
| Abstract: | The main objective of this thesis was to study the relationship between musical chords and the respective emotions evoked by them using the theoretical basis of Experimental Behavior Analysis. To this end, the thesis was composed of three articles. The first article was a scoping review of peer-reviewed articles published between 2005 and 2023. The keywords used were the entries Chords AND Emotions. In all, 11 articles were selected. The results indicated that all articles used self-report measures in their procedures and that the ability to relate chords to their emotions was present in most of the investigated populations. The second article was a fading-out experiment in which the emotional aspects of chords were used to teach conditional relations between chords and their respective labels. In other words, this article used the conditional relations between major chords-happy faces and minor chords-sad faces to teach the major chords-MAJOR word and the minor chords-MINOR word relations. The results indicated that 10 participants could learn this new ability. In addition, there was generalization to similar stimuli (new major and minor chords) and major and minor excerpts and progressions (untrained skill). Finally, the third article was an experiment in which the transfer of function between musical chords and abstract figures was investigated in a stimulus equivalence procedure with undergraduate students. Thirty-seven participants participated in the procedure, with 30 assigned to the Control group and 7 to the Experimental group. The results indicated that all participants in the Experimental group who performed the training steps could form equivalence classes. Furthermore, the transfer of function was verified through a semantic differential. The results indicated that the abstract figure related to major chords was classified with positive valence adjectives, and the abstract figure related to minor chords was classified with negative valence adjectives. |
