dc.description.abstract | Objective: Review the literature analyzing the scientific studies that contemplate the severity of asthma and their associated factors, based on the International Study of Asthma and Allergies in Childhood (ISAAC). Materials and methods: literature review on electronic databases with Pubmed, Cochrane, Medline and EMBASE in the last five years using the words asthma, severity adolescents. Results: Several factors such as obesity, pollution, psychological issues, atopy have increased over the years and have been associated with a modification in the prevalence of severity of this disease with variation in several regions. In addition, gender, knowledge about disease and access to medications also interfere with severity. ISAAC have allowed data acquisition in a qualified and standardized way, allowing comparison and analysis in several centers around the world for a better understanding of this disease and advances in its approach. Conclusion: Because it is a heterogeneous disease, these factors still remain controversial and increasingly studied. ISAAC was very important for the emergence of new research and knowledge about the disease in this age group. | pt_BR |
| pt_BR |
