| Abstract: | Devido ao destaque em que a estética do sorriso se encontra atualmente, uma das principais queixas relatadas pelos pacientes é o sorriso gengival. Para a correção dessa alteração é necessário conhecer os fatores etiológicos e as diferentes opções de tratamento. O presente trabalho, tem como objetivo apresentar um caso clínico de uma paciente jovem com sorriso gengival, e o tratamento cirúrgico para sua correção. A etiologia do sorriso gengival no relato de caso, trata-se de crescimento vertical excessivo da maxila, sendo a indicação para a correção dessa alteração, a técnica de reposicionamento superior da maxila associada ao aumento de coroa clínica estética, no entanto, a paciente optou pelo procedimento cirúrgico estético isoladamente. A cirurgia consistiu em um retalho reposicionado apicalmente com osteotomia. O resultado obtido foi positivo com alta satisfação da paciente, sendo possível verificar a redução significativa da exposição gengival. |
| Abstract: | Due to the prominence in which the smile aesthetics is currently, one of the main complaints reported by patients is the gingival smile. To correct this alteration, it is necessary to know the etiological factors and the different treatment options. The present work aims to present a clinical case of a young patient with gummy smile, and the surgical treatment for its correction. The etiology of the gummy smile in this case report is excessive vertical growth of the maxilla, and the indication for the correction of this alteration is the technique of superior repositioning of the maxilla associated with the increase of the aesthetic clinical crown, however, the patient chose by the aesthetic surgical procedure alone. Surgery consisted of an apically repositioned flap with osteotomy. The result obtained was positive with high patient satisfaction, and it was possible to verify a significant reduction in gingival exposure. |
