| Abstract: | Este estudo tem por objeto imagens do nazismo e da Shoah no romance A guerra no Bom Fim (1972), de Moacyr Scliar. Ao valer-se da ironia, do fantástico e do insólito, o escritor cria um universo em miniatura para, a partir do olhar infantil de seu protagonista, apresentar de maneira contundente a violência e os dilemas dos adultos. Na referida obra, o bairro porto-alegrense do Bom Fim ganha contornos do “schtetl”, a aldeiazinha judaicado Leste europeu. É o mundo da fantasia do “rei Joel”, em que figuras chagallianas pairam no ar, e em cujas ruas se trava uma guerra. Nele, a Segunda Guerra Mundial se faz presente com todo o seu poder de destruição, mesmo que a miremos através da fantasia de um grupo de crianças. |
| Abstract: | This study focuses on images of Nazism and Shoah in the novel A guerra no Bom Fim (1972; War in Bom Fim) by Moacyr Scliar. Using the irony, the fantastic and the unusual, the writer creates a miniature universe in order to, from the protagonist's childlike gaze, present the violence and dilemmas of adults in an overwhelming way. In this novel, the district of Bom Fim in the city of Porto Alegre takes on the shape of “schtetl”, the small Jewish village in Eastern Europe. It is the fantasy world of “King Joel”, in which Chagallian figures hang in the air, and in whose streets awar is fought. In it, the Second World War is present with all its destructive power, even if we look at it through the fantasy of a group of children. |
