dc.description.abstract	This study aimed to analyze the process of toponymic reversion in the City of Belo Horizonte carried out by Municipal Law no. 182, of October 13, 1919. The analysis was based on the taxonomic models of toponymy by Dick (1990) and Seabra (2016). It was tested the hypothesis that the reversion was motivated by the fact that the previous changes in the city’s toponymy, between 1908 and 1918, did not conform to the patterns of place names attribution of Aarão Reis in the city planning in 1895. It was argued that the hypothesis proceeds due to the innovation of honoring a public figure linked to the area of science with Municipal Law nº 127, of April 3, 1917, a type of pratice that still did not exist in the system of 1895. However, it was also possible to identify an ideological clash, related to the worldview of those involved, with opposition between the academic and the political.	pt_BR
dc.description.resumo	Este estudo teve como objetivo analisar o processo de reversão toponímica na cidade de Belo Horizonte efetuado pela Lei Municipal nº 182, de 13 de outubro de 1919. A análise teve como fundamento teórico os modelos taxonômicos de toponímia de Dick (1990) e Seabra (2016). Testou-se a hipótese de que a reversão foi motivada pelo fato de as mudanças precedentes na toponímia da cidade, entre 1908 e 1918, não estarem em conformidade com os padrões de atribuição de topônimos de Aarão Reis no planejamento da cidade em 1895. Defendeu-se que a hipótese procede em função de ter havido a inovação de homenagear figura pública vinculada à área da ciência com a Lei Municipal nº 127, de 3 de abril de 1917, tipo de prática ainda inexistente no sistema de 1895. Entretanto, foi possível identificar também um embate de fundo ideológico, relacionado à visão de mundo dos envolvidos, com oposição entre o acadêmico e o político.	pt_BR
