A política do tempo no desastre: disputas pela reparação no reassentamento da comunidade de Paracatu de Baixo

Abstract

The specialized literature highlights the disjunction between the bureaucratic timing of institutional responses to disasters and the duration of the installed social crisis. The rupture of the Fundão Dam in Mariana, Minas Gerais, does not escape this dynamic. In this article, we seek to examine how the institutional time deemed to reparation acts and how it engenders new correlations of force. For this purpose, we investigate the negotiations over the resettlement of Paracatu de Baixo. We intend to problematize how the “politics of time” operate within the measures taken for the sake of reparation.
