Xantogranuloma em cavidade oral: Relato de caso

Abstract

The Xanthogranuloma is the most common non-Langhans cell histiocytosis with a higher incidence in early childhood. It is usually self-resolving, without the need for surgical or drugs. Manifestations in adults are rare and have the same characteristics as manifestations in children, and therefore classified as Adult Juvenile Xanthogranuloma or Xanthogranuloma. The most affected sites are located in the upper part of the body, mainly the head and neck, and oral manifestations are extremely rare. The objective of the study is to describe a clinical case of a male patient with Xanthogranuloma in the oral space, to describe the clinical, imaging, and anatomopathological findings, as well as to report the surgical times of the approach and to present the postoperative evolution of the case. The patient reported facial asymmetry, swelling on the right face, with painless and slow growth. The treatment chosen was a surgical procedure with intraoral access, followed by complete excision of the lesion guided by US. The anatomopathological examination revealed Xanthogranuloma with an infiltrative character and thus, even after total excision, the patient should have extended follow-up to identify possible recurrence of the lesion.
