| Abstract: | A Geografia é um campo de estudo permeado por conexões, relações e diálogos com vários campos científicos (Bourdieu, 2004), de modo que muitos dos temas e assuntos abordados por ela se situam na “fronteira”, envolvendo a colaboração de diferentes áreas de conhecimento. Raça não é uma categoria geográfica, embora tenha sido largamente utilizada nesse campo de conhecimento, especialmente quando relacionada à formação da população brasileira. Assim, discutimos de que maneira e com base em quais referências a questão racial tem sido abordada nos periódicos de geografia classificados como Qualis A1 pela CAPES. O objetivo geral da pesquisa foi compreender quais concepções têm sido produzidas e divulgadas no campo da geografia acadêmica a respeito da questão racial, a partir da análise dos artigos científicos publicados em periódicos classificados pela CAPES como pertencentes ao extrato A1, ou seja, aqueles de maior impacto e relevância, no período entre 2003 e 2023. Para tal, o recorte temporal para nossa investigação foi estabelecido com base nas possíveis reverberações da Lei Federal 10.639/2003, que estabelece os marcos do ensino de “história e cultura afro-brasileira”. Realizamos uma análise documental dos artigos selecionados, concentrando-nos nos trabalhos que fizeram menção à dimensão racial em seus títulos, palavras-chave ou resumos, a partir da Análise de Conteúdo (AC) (Bardin, 2020 [1977]) e sob uma perspectiva da teoria marxista. Os resultados mostraram que uma parte considerável dos trabalhos analisados focaram no mito da democracia racial e que a principal orientação teórica foram as abordagens pós-coloniais e decoloniais. Esta é uma pesquisa que está articulada à compreensão do discurso produzido por e na “geografia acadêmica/científica”, ou seja, trata-se de uma investigação e análise das produções deste campo do conhecimento assentadas na sua dimensão racial, que é simultaneamente temporal e espacial. |
| Abstract: | Geography is a field of study permeated by connections, relationships, and dialogues with various scientific fields (Bourdieu, 2004), so that many of the themes and subjects addressed by geography are situated at the "border", involving the collaboration of different areas of knowledge. Race is not a geographical category, although it has been widely used in this field of knowledge, especially when related to the formation of the Brazilian population. Thus, we discuss how and based on what references the racial issue has been addressed in geography journals classified as Qualis A1 by CAPES, the Brazilian authority of post-graduate studies. The overall aim of the research was to understand which conceptions have been produced and disseminated in the field of academic geography regarding the racial issue, based on the analysis of scientific articles published in journals classified by CAPES as belonging to the A1 stratum, i.e., those of greater impact and relevance, in the period between 2003 and 2023. To this end, the temporal cut-off for our investigation was established based on the possible reverberations of Federal Law 10,639/2003, which establishes the milestones for the teaching of "Afro-Brazilian history and culture". Through the method of Content Analysis (Bardin, 2020 [1977]) and based on the Marxist theory, we conducted a documentary analysis of the selected articles, focusing on works that made mention of the racial dimension in their titles, keywords, or abstracts. The results showed that a considerable proportion of the papers analyzed focused on the myth of racial democracy, and that the main theoretical orientation were post-colonial and decolonial approaches. This is a research that is articulated with the understanding of the discourse produced by and in the "academic/scientific geography," that is, it is an investigation and analysis of the productions of this field of knowledge based on its racial dimension, which is simultaneously temporal and spatial. |
