Oferta de próteses dentárias na Atenção Primária à Saúde de 2010 a 2016 em Belo Horizonte, Minas Gerais

Abstract

Objective: The objective of the present study was to describe the implementation and supply of removable complete dentures (PT) in Primary Health Care (PHC) between 2010-2016, in the city of Belo Horizonte (BH). Methods: Documentary research in the technical note on the provision of PT in the Unified Health System; legislation and data on accreditation of Regional Dental Prosthesis Laboratories (LRPD) in BH and protocol for Oral Health Care in the municipality. Based on the consolidated productivity of the Basic Health Units (UBS) and the technical note “Offer of Dental Prostheses in the SUS-BH Network”, 2012, the number of prostheses offered from 07/2010 to 07/2016 and the offer rates, considering the estimated population in need of PT. Results: In 2004, the National Oral Health Policy established the provision of prostheses in PHC. In 2006, the Protocol for Oral Health Care defined the provision of partial and complete removable acrylic dentures in PHC. In 2008, there was a notice of LRPD accreditation. In 2010, PT began to be offered and an LRPD was accredited. Training courses and support from a specialist tutor were made available. In 2016, one hundred and forty-eight UBS were capable of producing PT, which was 900 prostheses in 2010 and 4,573 in 2016, totaling 25,784 PT offered to the population. The increase was 87.6% from 2011 to 2012 and 44.7% from 2012 to 2013; from 2013 to 2014 it decreased by 1.2% and grew by 15.2% from 2014 to 2015. There was an increase in the annual and monthly production rates of prostheses. Conclusion: There was an increase in the supply of PT by PHC in BH. Tutoring and training courses favored the adherence and improvement of dental surgeons in offering this service.
