Indicadores de salubridade ambiental urbana e rural da Bacia do Rio Doce

Abstract

The social welfare is a widely discussed topic. Access to sanitation services and its implications on the environment; the medical and epidemiological occurrences widely observed / registered for public health; and the possibilities of integration in the social protection systems; cover the main perspectives of characterizing the quality of human life. Thus is created the concept of salubrity or wholesomeness incorporating these dimensions and allows the combined analysis. The current situation allows the discussion of the current state of healthiness in a federal watershed that was recently devastated: the pollution of the Rio Doce, its tributaries and its people. This article presents a methodology for synthesizing the wholesomeness from multivariate analysis techniques and combination of different indicators. The spatial distribution of the results shows fidelity to the observations on site and there is reasonable prospect of the proposed methods.
