Abstract: | The civil construction industry generates environmental impacts in several stages of its production process, such as the generation of construction and demolition waste (CDW). One of the processes to reduce the amount of CDW discarded in the environment is its recycling and use on construction sites. When crushed, the CDW can be used as aggregates, large and/or small constituents of concrete or mortars. This research studied the application of CDW in structural concrete, using 25 and 50% of replacement in relation to the weight of natural fine aggregate. In general, the CDW replacements presented a satisfactory performance when compared to the reference concrete and could be performed as structural concrete. Among the CDW replacement percentages studied, the one that stood out the most was 25% (CDW25). It showed the smallest reduction in compressive strength at 28 days, around 6.0%, and obtained good workability. |
