| Abstract: | Este trabalho tem o objetivo analisar as relações entre a evolução da pandemia e a evolução do jornalismo de verificação produzido em 2020 em cinco países da América Latina: Argentina, Brasil, Colômbia, Equador e México. Baseado numa abordagem quantitativa, fundamentada na frequência de notícias de verificação, associada à análise do número de infectados e mortos pela COVID-19, este trabalho analisou a existência de padrões na produção do jornalismo de verificação. Os principais resultados indicaram que o grande volume de notícias de verificação antecedeu o pico da primeira onda da pandemia e que o principal fator de combate à desinformação pareceu ser a realidade e não a disputa de narrativas estabelecida entre fake news e notícias de verificação. |
| Abstract: | This work aims to analyze the relationship between the evolution of the pandemic and the evolution of fact-checking journalism produced in 2020 in five Latin American countries: Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador and Mexico. Based on a quantitative approach, based on the frequency of fact-checking, associated with the analysis of the number of people infected and killed by COVID-19, this work analyzed the existence of patterns in the production of fact-checking. The main results indicated that the large volume of fact-checking preceded the peak of the first wave of the pandemic and that the main factor in combating disinformation appeared to be reality and not the narrative dispute established between fake news and fact-checking. |
