A educação na saúde na atenção primária em saúde bucal: uma análise cienciométrica

Abstract

Health education has the potential to reverberate in improving access and quality of care offered to the population, as well as improving health practices in accordance with the knowledge acquired based on scientific evidence, thus advancing the guarantee of comprehensive care. This study aimed to investigate research on health education in the context of oral health in primary health care, using a scientometric approach. The scientometric analysis was conducted using scientific articles collected in the Web of Science (main database), SCOPUS, SCIELO and PUBMED databases, covering the period from 2004 to 2024. The scientific articles were visually inspected for eligibility and reviews were excluded , meta-analyses, notes, as well as articles that did not correspond to the scope of the research. To examine and map the scientific scenario related to health education in oral health in PHC, the Bibliometrix package and the VosViewer program were used. The results reveal an increase in the number of searches throughout the period studied. The field has many authors, however, more than 90% of them wrote only one article. Few institutions are responsible for the majority of productions. Many journals contribute to the field, with 5 journals responsible for the majority of production. Most of the partnerships in the collaboration network occurred between European countries and the United States, in addition to collaboration between African, Asian and Middle Eastern countries among themselves. These findings have practical implications for training, research policies and funding agencies looking to foster innovation and knowledge exchange. This study revealed that there is a tendency to expand research in the field of telemedicine/teledentistry, as well as actions related to the knowledge and attitudes of professionals.
