| Abstract: | A tese realiza uma análise detalhada da sistemática do gênero Saguinus, um grupo de primatas sul-americanos amplamente distribuídos nas florestas tropicais da Amazônia e regiões adjacentes. Combinando dados morfológicos e moleculares, o trabalho busca esclarecer questões filogenéticas, taxonômicas e biogeográficas, com foco no grupo S. mystax. A pesquisa explora a evolução e diversificação dessas espécies em um contexto histórico-paleogeográfico, destacando o impacto das mudanças na bacia amazônica, como o fim do sistema Pebas e a formação da rede moderna de rios. Os resultados contribuem para um maior entendimento da biodiversidade amazônica e das forças evolutivas que moldaram a distribuição dos primatas neotropicais. |
| Abstract: | The thesis provides a detailed analysis of the systematics of the genus Saguinus, a group of South American primates widely distributed in the tropical forests of the Amazon and surrounding regions. By combining morphological and molecular data, the study aims to clarify phylogenetic, taxonomic, and biogeographic questions, focusing on the S. mystax group. The research explores the evolution and diversification of these species within a historical- paleogeographic context, highlighting the impact of changes in the Amazon basin, such as the end of the Pebas system and the formation of the modern river network. The results contribute to a greater understanding of Amazonian biodiversity and the evolutionary forces that shaped the distribution of Neotropical primates. |
