Abstract: | A commercial niobium oxide was used to form a gelled material, which was lyophilized producing a novel polyoxoniobate catalyst (L-AmNbO) containing peroxo groups. The activity of this new catalyst was assessed through oxidation reactions of the cyclohexene. In the presence of L-AmNbO catalyst, the oxidation of cyclohexene with H2O2 reached 90% of conversion after 12 h at 75 ◦C, with selectivity for 1,2-cyclohexanediol (~ 50%). The catalytic results and the surface properties of this new material indicated that it can be a promising catalyst for niobium compounds applications in the selective oxidation of cyclohexene. |
