A relação entre a força de trabalho dos estagiários das engenharias com o campo de estágio: possíveis contradições

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the relationships between students enrolled in undergraduate engineering courses at the Federal University of Minas Gerais - UFMG and their internship sites in order to understand how the interns are monitored by the educational institution and the internship site, identify the degree of complexity of the tasks delegated to the interns and verify whether there is precariousness in the interns' workforce. Based on a bibliographical survey, application of a questionnaire and semi-structured interviews conducted with students, professors and employees of companies that hire engineering interns, the research is characterized as a case study with an exploratory-descriptive approach being applied to students of undergraduate engineering courses at UFMG who declared having already interned or being interning during the data collection period, with professors from the same institution who supervise interns and with employees of small and medium-sized companies located in the city of Belo Horizonte and metropolitan region, who work in the engineering areas and supervise interns. The collected data were analyzed qualitatively in an interpretative way. The study sought to verify possible distortions that occurred during the internship that could lead to precarious work for engineering interns and to observe whether the internship activity, in exchange for the practical learning acquired in the internship field, could negatively affect the academic performance of students, taking into account that organizations often delegate an intense and complex workload to interns, which differs from what is foreseen in the activity plan. In addition, it will be verified how the interns are supervised and provided for and whether the current internship legislation is sufficient to curb distortions and prevent internship fields from making the interns' workforce precarious.
