| Abstract: | A percepção dos sons vocálicos é um problema para a teoria da percepção de Aristóteles, porque a percepção, propriamente dita, é dos perceptíveis por si: o olho vê cor, o ouvido ouve som. Como a voz não se resume a ser som, pois é um certo som capaz de significar, ela não pode ser percebida por si, mas apenas por concomitância. Portanto, se a significação precisa da intelecção e os animais não têm essa capacidade, como eles perceberiam o som e entenderiam a significação? |
| Abstract: | The perception of spoken sounds is a trouble to Aristotles theory of perception, because perception, strictly speaking, is of perceptibles by itself: the eye sees color, the ear hears sound. As the voice is not only a sound, since it is a sound that can mean, it can not be perceived by itself, but only by accident. Therefore, if the meaning needs intellection and the animals do not have such capacity, how would they perceive sound and understand meaning? |
