dc.description.abstract	This work intends to investigate the way of the medieval author John Buridan answers the problem of the reference of non-denotative terms, that is, terms which refer to non-existent objects, within the medieval terminist theory, specially the Supposition Theory. It focuses on one special case of non-existent objects: chimaera. The buridaniantheory answers the question of the meaning and reference of non-denotative terms making use of the semantic complexity of language and avoiding the postulation of a special type of existence of these objects.	pt_BR
dc.description.resumo	Este trabalho pretende investigar como o autor medieval João Buridan responde ao problema da referência dos termos não denotativos, i.e., termos que se referem a objetos não-existentes, dentro do quadro da teoria terminista medieval, principalmente a Teoria da Suposição. Iremos nos concentrar no estudo de um caso especial de objeto nãoexistente: a quimera. Veremos que a teoria buridaniana responde à questão da significação e da referência de termos não denotativos recorrendo à complexidade semântica da linguagem, evitando, assim, a postulação de um tipo especial de existência para esses objetos.	pt_BR
