| Title: | Proposta de um protocolo para a 1ª visita odontológica do recém-nascido na Unidade Básica de Saúde |

| Abstract: | A reduzida prioridade conferida à dentição decídua leva a alguns reflexos, tais como a elevada prevalência de cáries dentais desde a mais tenra idade, o medo ao tratamento odontológico e a criação de hábitos ligados a uma dieta cariogênica. O objetivo deste trabalho foi o de sugerir o início do atendimento odontológico aos bebês na 1ª semana de vida, especificamente no dia do exame do pezinho, nas Unidades Básicas de Saúde, na cidade de Belo Horizonte, visando à conscientização da família dos benefícios da atenção odontológica precoce, bem como da prática educativa e preventiva da saúde bucal; à adquirição pela criança de hábitos saudáveis e de higiene desde cedo, e à influência positiva das ações desta proposta no padrão de saúde bucal durante toda a vida do paciente. |
| Abstract: | The low priority given to the deciduous dentition leads to some reflexes, such as the high prevalence of dental caries at an early age, fear of dental treatment and the creation of habits associated with a cariogenic diet. The objective of this study was to suggest the beginning of dental care for babies in the 1st week of life, specifically on the day of feet testing in the Basic Health Units in the city of Belo Horizonte, aiming et the awareness of the benefits of early odontological family care, and the educational practice and preventive oral health; the acquisition by the child of hygienic and early healthy habits, and the positive influence of the actions proposed in this pattern of oral health throughout the life of the patient. |
