O uso de sistema de gerenciamento de banco de dados para controle de contratos: estudo de caso em uma empresa de construção pesada de Belo Horizonte MG

Abstract

Currently dealing with a great amount of information, the organizations realized there is a need to manage and share this information in a quick and efficient fashion. However, the information is relevant and becomes knowledge only when it is efficiently managed. By making available effective tools for great groups of information management, the so called Data Management Systems are successfully used to keep and retrieve a great amount of data. This paper, based on the theoretical contribution from the Science of Information and on the basic tools from the Technology of Information, aims to analyze and to improve the process of the undertaking and equipment rental contracts control for a heavy construction company in Belo Horizonte, Brazil. The methodology, developed from a case study, comprehended conceiving the logical and physical project for the creation of a databank management system prototype. With the research development, became clear the need of an additional tool for sharing information thought out the different departments of the company. We believe that a Databank Management System for contracts control will assure the information management in a consistent, effective and efficient manner, besides allowing a faster information sharing.
