| Abstract: | Este artigo analisa a situação do cinema americano no final dos anos de 1960 e início dos 70, além de traçar um paralelo entre a agitação social e política de Nova York e o conteúdo dos filmes produzidos nesse momento. Adiante, o artigo examina brevemente a noção de cinema como documento histórico trabalhada por Marc Ferro e o conceito de realismo no cinema explicado por Jaques Aumont. Por fim, são feitas análises da cidade de Nova York e seus habitantes usando como objetos os filmes Taxi Driver (1976) de Martin Scorsese e Perdidos na Noite (1969) de John Schlesinger. |
| Abstract: | This article analyzes the situation of the american cinema in the late 60s and early 70s, also it makes a parallel between the social e political turmoil that engulfed New York City and the content of the movies produced at this time. Besides, the article examines briefly the notion of cinema as a historical document defended by Marc Ferro and the idea of realism in movies explained by Jaques Aumont. Finally, New York City and its inhabitants are analyzed using as objects the movies Taxi Driver (1976) directed by Martin Scorsese and Midnight Cowboy (1969) directed by John Schlesinger. |
