dc.description.abstract | Colic syndrome is one of the most frequent disease in equine, being the large intestine impaction the most common cause. Basic treatment for impactions consists in enteral fluid therapy that can be associated with the use of emolients and intravenous fluids and analgesia. The use of enteral fluids treatment of impactions is a non-expensive method, easy administration and great efficiency in softening and eliminating the impacted mass. The objective of this monograph was to study 37 animals treated in veterinary hospital of UFMG that presented large intestine impaction and were treated with enteral fluid therapy being associated or not to emolients and parenteral fluid therapy. The use of enteral fluid therapy showed to be very efficient in resolving the impactions cases presented by these animals, being that 94,59% (35/37) of the animals were discharged 2,70% (1/37) were referred for surgery and only 2,70% (1/37) came to death. | pt_BR |
| pt_BR |
