A inclusão da equipe de saúde bucal na estratégia saúde da família (ESF)

Abstract

The Family Health Program (FHP) was created in 1994 by the Ministry of Health in order to reorganize the model of health care to the population. Their goal was to remove the outbreak of the diseases, with emphasis on improving the quality of life of individuals, through actions directed mainly to the care and health promotion. In 2000, saw the need to include dentistry in the Family Health Team (FHT) to change the dental services provided. Only the performance of curative procedures was not generating the expected result, ie, access to dental treatment of all people with different ages and the reduction of dental problems are a major advance in the attempt to universalize access and work with the logic of territorialization. With the inclusion of dentistry in the Family Health Strategy saw the opportunity to reverse this situation, to contribute to the principle of comprehensiveness, or view the individual as a whole and not parts, offering a service at all levels and also ensuring the intersectoral, performing actions to promote health, identification, prevention and treatment of dental disease in itself, leading to a better awareness of our users. For this, the dentist should be trained and conduct periodic evaluations of their work. Must act in an active way: reaching out to users, knowing the territory, the problems and socio-economic conditions of each individual, changing the way we act, whenever there is a need, and creating strategies to achieve the expected result that moment. This study was conducted from a literature review, in articles surveyed in the period 2001 to 2011 with the primary purpose of discussing the importance of integrating the Oral Health Team (ESB) FHS, to recover the oral and general health of our users, contributing to the creation of links between professionals and assisted by increasing access to the service offered, as a greater closeness between the team and the community makes the patient feel more secure and confident, encouraging changes in habits and consequently, a resolution of their problems and improve quality of life.
