Relação entre condições bucais e a saúde geral

Abstract

The present study deals with the theme: "relationship between Oral and overall health Conditions". The surgeon dentist, as well as health professionals, to make a diagnosis of oral lesions need to consider that these are not restricted only to the mouth. Sometimes represent local manifestations of systemic diseases. The overall objective was to contribute to a new posture of the dentist and doctor, nurse, extends from the perspective that we are all health professionals and thus becomes essential to have as a practice the correlation between systemic problems and the oral condition of the patient. The specific objectives: Identify some of the major chronic diseases of relevance in dentistry; Subsidize the knowledge of health professionals in order to promote correct actions of oral health promotion and prevention; Promote the appreciation of dentistry as an essential factor in the health concept. The methodology used was a review of the literature composed of information collected in the books, magazines, specialized websites, searches in the databases Lilacs and technical manual of the Ministry of health in the period of 2000 to 2011. In conclusion was suggested the insertion of a new model of dental care with new dental health policies, as well as the integration of staff seeking to address the individual as a whole.
