Obesidade, uma nova doença da saúde pública: uma proposta de intervenção no município de São Sebastião do Anta/MG

Abstract

The objective of this study was to develop a plan of nursing intervention in the identification and prevention of risk factors in order to help fight obesity in the family health strategy in the municipality of São Sebastião do Anta / MG. The study was characterized as a review of national literature regarding obesity. The search in the database of Google Scholar was performed considering the following key words: Obesity, Risk Factors, Prevention, Intervention, Practice Nurses. We found 08 articles, 11 files of other categories (12 books), 04 periodicals and 01 resolution. Consultations were also conducted in 18 nursing books that addressed the subject. This study was conducted between August 2011 and February 2012. The data obtained were related and ordered, considered the relevant issues identified and categorized in which we conduct a final analysis, relating the obtained materials and reflections triggered with the objectives of this study. The literature review showed consistency among the authors about the importance of the subject as a case of public health. It is concluded that there is an accessible means allowing nurses to contribute to the prevention and treatment of obesity and there feasibility of implementing simple and effective actions to achieve this goal, however there is the need for a proposed intervention and continuing education so that obesity is not considered as secondary, but primary focus. It is worth noting the need for nurses to act in preventing obesity and the socialization of information, aiming at the identification and prevention.
