dc.description.abstract	The dental hygienist (TSB) belongs to a professional category of the oral health team responsible for direct action on dental care at the individual level and in prevention and health promotion at the collective level. His presence, if utilized properly, can increase the coverage of oral health actions to the population assisted. The objective of this review was to describe the oral health technician in the family health strategy. Information was obtained through a review of the literature with articles from the last five years. The results showed that there are barriers to the work of the TSB in oral health teams, the lack of clarity in relation to their functions, for ignorance of the law and even the difficulty of the dentist to work as a team, supervising and delegating.	pt_BR
dc.description.resumo	O técnico em saúde bucal (TSB) pertence à uma categoria profissional da equipe de saúde bucal responsável por ações diretas na assistência odontológica, à nível individual, e nas ações de prevenção e promoção de saúde, à nível coletivo. Sua presença, se bem utilizada, pode elevar a cobertura das ações de saúde bucal à população assistida. O objetivo deste foi descrever a atuação do técnico em saúde bucal na estratégia saúde da família. As informações foram obtidas através de revisão de literatura com artigos dos últimos cinco anos. Os resultados mostraram que existem barreiras para a atuação do TSB nas equipes de saúde bucal, pela falta de clareza em relação às suas funções, por desconhecimento da legislação e até por dificuldade do cirurgião-dentista em trabalhar em equipe, supervisionando e delegando funções.	pt_BR
