Triagem obstétrica: uma revisão de literatura

Abstract

The study aimed to understand how midwifery can contribute to the risk rating process and discuss how the nurse midwife may contribute to the resolution of the health system at national level, using protocols in emergency obstetric care. It is a traditional literature review that were accessed the databases LILACS via VHL and MEDLINE via Pubmed. All publications were retrieved in the MEDLINE database combined with the descriptors: screening x reception, screening x obstetrics, screening x nursing. We selected 12 articles, five types of literature review and seven original articles, from 1989 to 2011. All selected articles are in English and are American. It was observed that screening obstetric U.S. is well established with the performance of midwives in different institutions and different forms, backed by institutional protocols. But there is little scientific literature on the role of these nurses in triage, both in Brazil and other countries. In general obstetric screening contributes to the reorganization of the flow of patients in services, improving services to women and the management of hospital beds. For better function of the solidification of obstetrics nurse in screening should be expanded content screening in obstetrical training curricula of these professionals, given that this is a growth area worldwide.
