Abstract: | High blood pressure (HBP) is popularly known as high blood pressure and is one of the most prevalent diseases in the modern world, being defined as a multifactorial clinical condition characterized by high and sustained levels of blood pressure (BP). Its main causes heredity, obesity, physical inactivity, alcoholism, stress, smoking and other causes. Despite the BP measurement is a simple diagnostic method; non-invasive, low cost, epidemiological studies have shown that many are unaware of their hypertensive condition. This study aimed to analyze the strategies used in health education for hypertensive patients in Brazil. It is an integrative literature review conducted with a sample of 09 works published in Portuguese and in the period 1998 to 2010, identified in the databases BDENF, LILACS, SCIELO and MINISTRY OF HEALTH. Health education in Brazil has assumptions that refer to preventive and curative measures aimed at achieving health and confronting disease, and health promotion. It can be seen in this context that nursing has been producing knowledge through the work with these groups because they are spaces that promote the empowerment of those involved, both individually and collectively. It is concluded that through the appreciation of diverse knowledge and able to intervene in the process of health of each hypertensive disease and considering the same empowerment as a means of health education is an effective treatment possible. |
