Os efeitos cardiotóxicos gerados pelas antraciclinas: uma revisão integrativa

Abstract

The treatment with chemotherapeutics can cause a series of adverse effects. Some of these effects are so harmful that they can indicate an interruption of the treatment or even entail the death of the patient and, therefore they must be foreseen, detected and treated. Thus, the early detection of cardiotoxicity caused by anthracyclines, a drug widely used in treatment of cancer, becomes a challenge in preventing of heart failure. Aiming at identifying of health professionals that can contribute to minimize the cardiotoxicity side effects generated by anthracyclines, in patients undergoing oncologic treatment, a study of integrative review was carried out. The search for bibliographical references was carried out in the following databases: BDENF, COLECIONA-SUS, IBECS, LILACS and MEDLINE. Ten articles were selected, from 2002 to 2011, being work of national and international publication. Even though the study is able to meet the proposed objective, it was noted that there are few studies of health professionals in this field. There are several studies that treat the anthracyclines and its actions. Thus, it is necessary that new studies be developed aiming to know which are the best actions directed to minimize the cardiotoxicity effects caused in patients treated with anthracyclines.
