Manifestações emocionais do paciente à espera de um transplante renal

Abstract

The decision for an organ transplant is very delicate and requires discussion and clarification with patient and staff. The transplant can cause numerous psychological implications that affect the donor and organ recipient, because it is a patient who presents psychological distress superimposed on the physical suffering. It is necessary to understand it in its whole, a context of sickness, sequelae of treatment and hospitalization. This study aimed to identify the emotional manifestations of kidney patient who is awaiting a kidney transplant, in this regard , we opted for an integrative research. As a result of this work, we identified the emotional aspects of these patients in order to understand the feelings and perceptions of patients with chronic renal failure, such as fear, low self esteem, depression, denial, and physical limitations of daily routines, changes in body image bringing feelings of depression and anxiety among others. It is hoped that the results of this study may contribute to better understanding of the various psychological and behavioral manifestations presented by patients who are in stressful waiting list for an organ transplant.
