Obesidade infantil: abordagem do cirurgião-dentista na Estratégia Saúde Família

Abstract

This work is a narrative literature review of the literature on multidisciplinary intervention in childhood obesity, compiled from information collected in scientific articles on the subject, based on data from the Virtual Health Library Cut time between the years 1998 to 2012. Were highlighted in the work possible causes and consequences of obesity and the importance of prevention carried out by multidisciplinary team. The high number of cases of childhood obesity has become worldwide problem. The sedentary style of modern life, coupled with unhealthy diet, called "nutrition transition" is one of the major determinants of obesity. Obesity being a chronic, multifactorial, one realizes the need for prevention and changing habits in childhood so that they can prevent children becoming obese adults with impaired quality of life due to the consequences of overweight. In this context, it is clear that a multidisciplinary approach is a key factor in order to obtain success in treatment, where prevention involving the entire family of obese children will focus on the change of lifestyle, incorporating healthy eating and physical activity into the daily routine of these. This study aimed to identify the literature, reports of action for childhood obesity prevention and support programs to promote health by the Family Health Strategy with the population for prevention and control of childhood obesity. It is noteworthy in this work, the importance of the performance of the Oral Health Team as responsible for the active pursuit of this group within the scope of the Family Health Strategy.
