| Abstract: | A posição dos dentes nos arcos dentais e seu relacionamento durante a oclusão com os dentes antagonistas são fundamentais para as atividades básicas do sistema estomatognático como a deglutição, fala, mastigação e outros. O ajuste oclusal por desgaste seletivo, devidamente indicado, busca obter a harmonização da oclusão, atuando como um mecanismo de compensação artificial da oclusão, que modifica a superfície oclusal dos dentes naturais, restaurações, próteses, entre outros, por meio de desgastes seletivos. Sendo assim, o ajuste oclusalproporciona uma melhor relação das arcadas dentárias, proporcionando estímulos uniformes aos dentes e periodonto para que possam realizar suas funções com eficiência.Este estudo tem como objetivo definir as indicações e objetivos do ajuste oclusal, assim como descrever suas consequências. |
| Abstract: | The position of the teeth in the dental arches and their relationship during occlusion with antagonist teeth, are fundamental to the basic activities of the stomatognathic system as swallowing, speaking, chewing and others. The occlusal adjustment by selective grinding, duly noted, seeks to obtain harmonization of the occlusion, acting as an artificial compensation mechanism of occlusion, which modifies the occlusal surface of natural teeth, restorations, prostheses, among others, through selective worn. Therefore, occlusal adjustment provides a better relationship between the dental arches, providing uniforms stimulus to the teeth and periodontal so they can perform their duties efficiently.These study aims to define the directions and goals of occlusal adjustment and to describe their consequences. |
