Banquete lapidoso: tecnologia lítica em contextos festivos no sítio Porto de Santarém, Baixo Amazonas

Abstract

This research aims to characterize the lithic material from Santarém Port site, municipality of Santarém, in the Lower Tapajos region. This material was found in archaeological features called by local archaeological research as bolsão, in english also called pits or bell-shaped pits. This dissertation also seeks to contribute to the construction of an interpretation of the nature of these bolsão. This material is distributed in four bolsões, three contiguous and the other further south, all in the area called 2A. Because it is usually interpreted as a ritual activity trace, this work questioned about the formation of the archaeological record, disposal practices and what archeology has been conventionally considered ritual stuff.
