| Abstract: | Marcadores tumorais são substâncias presentes no tumor, no sangue ou em outros líquidos biológicos, produzidos primariamente por ele ou, secundariamente pelo paciente, em resposta à presença do tumor. Em medicina os marcadores CEA e CA15.3 e as enzimas LDH e fosfatase alcalina auxiliam no prognóstico e detecção de recidivas em mulheres com câncer de mama, enquanto as dosagens de proteínas totais e albumina auxiliam na avaliação do estado nutricional da paciente. Em medicina veterinária esses marcadores são pouco estudados. O objetivo deste trabalho foi determinar e avaliar as concentrações séricas de CEA, CA15.3, fosfatase alcalina e LDH em cadelas hígidas e cadelas com câncer de mama com e sem metástase, verificar a existência de correlação entre os testes CEA e CA15.3 e determinar o perfil proteico dessas pacientes realizando dosagens séricas de proteínas totais e albumina. Foram avaliadas 69 cadelas sendo 10 hígidas, 41 com câncer de mama sem metástase, nove com câncer de mama e metástase regional e nove com câncer de mama e metástase à distância. As concentrações séricas de CEA, LDH e fosfatase alcalina não apresentaram alterações significativas (p>0,05) entre os grupos. Entretanto, o grupo de cadelas com câncer de mama e metástase à distância apresentou aumento significativo (p= 0,029) de CA15.3 sérico quando comparado com os demais grupos, sugerindo associação deste marcador tumoral com o estadiamento clínico do câncer de mama na cadela. O marcador CA15.3 apresentou baixa correlação com CEA, sugerindo uma maior sensibilidade frente a evolução tumoral. Na avaliação do perfil proteico, somente a albumina apresentou-se elevada, com diferença estatística significativa (p< 0,05) no grupo de cadelas com câncer de mama sem metástase |
| Abstract: | Tumor markers are substances present in the tumor, blood or other fluids produced by it primarily or secondarily by the patient, in response to the presence of tumor. In medicine, serum biomarkers CEA, CA15.3 and enzymes LDH and alkaline phosphatase assist in prognosis, therapy monitoring and detection of breast cancer recurrence in women, while the levels of total protein and albumin help assess the nutritional status of the patient. In veterinary medicine, these biomarkers are rarely studied. The aim of this study was to determine and evaluate the serum concentrations of CEA, CA15.3, alkaline phosphatase and LDH in healthy female dogs and female dogs with breast cancer with and without metastases, and observe the correlation between tests CEA and CA15.3 and the disease staging, and to determine the protein profile of these patients by dosage serum total protein and albumin. We evaluated 69 dogs and 10 healthy, 41 with mammary cancer without metastases, nine with mammary cancer and regional metastasis and nine with mammary cancer and distant metastasis. Serum concentrations of CEA, LDH and alkaline phosphatase showed no significant differences (p> 0.05) between groups. However, the biomarker CA15.3 in the group of female dogs with mammary cancer and distant metastasis increased significantly (p = 0.029) compared with other groups, suggesting an association of this tumor marker with clinical staging of breast cancer in female dogs. The marker CA15.3 showed low correlation with CEA, suggesting a greater sensitivity to tumor evolution.
