| Abstract: | Este estudo teve como objetivo avaliar a utilização do tratamento orto-cirúrgico da má oclusão de Classe II em pacientes adultos. Considera-se que o tratamento das deformidades dentofaciais padrão Classe II é um dos mais complexos da área da cirurgia ortognática, exatamente por termos o osso móvel da face com uma deformidade real e de difícil ajuste funcional. Geralmente a mandíbula está retroposta e é menor do que a maxila nos sentidos ântero-posterior e também vertical. Concluiu-se que esta modalidade de tratamento é capaz de proporcionar significativos ganhos estéticos e miofuncionais, sendo que em casos de grande discrepância maxilomandibular a cirurgia ortognática combinada deve ser indicada, uma vez que cirurgias de segmentos isolados não obtêm os padrões estéticos e de oclusão almejados assim como a estabilidade do procedimento como um todo. |
| Abstract: | This study aimed to describe the use of orthodontic and surgical treatment in malocclusion Class II in adults patients. Considered that the treatment of facial deformities standard Class II and one of the most complex of the area of orthognathic surgery, exactly in accordance with the mobile bone of the face with a deformity real and difficult adjustment functional. Usually the lower jaw is retrued and is lower than the maxilla antero-posterior and vertical. Concluded that this kind of treatment produces esthetical and miofunctional benefits, being that in cases of maxilomandibular discrepancy the combined orthognatic surgery must be indicated, therefore the surgeries of isolated segmental dont have esthetical features and occlusion such as stability of the procedure as a total. |
