| Abstract: | A articulação têmporomandibular (ATM) apresenta algumas propriedades peculiares, ela é caracterizada como uma estrutura bastante complexa e de fundamental importância na execução da mastigação, fonação, deglutição e respiração, que compõem o sistema estomatognático. Os exames de imagens têm evoluído nas últimas décadas, melhorando a visualização e compreensão anatômica e funcional da ATM. Atualmente, o exame mais solicitado para compreensão dessa articulação é a ressonância magnética. O objetivo deste trabalho foi realizar uma revisão da literatura com a finalidade de verificar o exame complementar com a melhor qualidade de imagem para o diagnóstico das desordens têmporomandibulares (DTM). Baseado no levantamento bibliográfico observou-se que a tomografia computadorizada por emissão de pósitrons é o exame de imagem mais indicado para essa situação, pois define melhor as situações iniciais do processo inflamatório, permitindo a intervenção precoce da DTM. |
| Abstract: | The TMJ is a joint that has some peculiar properties, it is characterized as a very complex structure and of fundamental importance in the execution of mastication, speech, swallowing and breathing, which make up the stomatognathic system. The imaging tests have evolved in recent decades, for better readability and understanding the anatomy and function of the TMJ. Currently, the most requested test for understanding this joint is magnetic resonance imaging. The aim of this study was to review the literature in order to ascertain what additional examination that offers the best image quality in situations of temporomandibular disorders. Based on the literature review conducted found that computed tomography positron emission imaging is the most suitable for this situation, it better defines the initial conditions of the inflammatory process, allowing early intervention TMD. |
