Abstract

This study investigated the entry of the Federal University of Minas Gerais in offering undergraduate courses in the distance mode. The goal was to identify the speeches that preceded the inclusion of the institution EAD, objections and defense of those who supported the project; understand how some members of the international community of the University are unaware of these facts, or even why others oppose the decision to teach UFMG away. To perform this analysis mapped to Distance Education in Brazil and the world; analyzed the route's University in EAD, their diverse experiences in the area before the implementation of undergraduate courses in distance education, and also described the offer their undergraduate distance, to understand their current practice and whether there is any difference in the way of delivering their various courses. This research therefore sought to develop an overview of entry UFMG in distance learning and identify how itorganizes its offer for the various poles of presence support, within the state of Minas Gerais. The theoretical and methodological approach was case study. The unit of analysis - or if - this work was the implementation of undergraduate courses in distance education mode, UFMG, trying to understand how this actually happened. We used document analysis and semi-structured interviews to collect data. And came to the conclusion that the Federal University of Minas Gerais implemented undergraduate EAD through the hard work of a group of professionals who have dedicated themselves to this project.
