Abstract: | This paper has as central objective to relate the technical and normative requirements involved in the issue of wind power integration with an existent power grid. The main power generation technologies used in variable speed wind turbines generators (DFIG and FRC) are approached, jointly with electronic devices that enable the work of those into variable speed mode. The characterization of electrical phenomena related to the connection with the general power grid, mainly those involved with the quality of the energy, are discussed during the whole paper. The theme of ride through fault of wind turbines in face of voltage dips in the connection point with the main power grid is the central matter discussed in this work. Therewith, two case studies are presented; being one for the theoretical definitions of the concerned phenomena, and the other is to allow a clear view of wind power turbine behavior during the occurrence of a voltage dip in the coupling point with the electrical grid.Last, but not least, are studied and compared the grid codes of countries with a vast tradition in the area and also the Brazilian grid code, in order to understand how the electrical sector regulation agencies determine the standards for the safe and controlled operation of wind power turbines. |
