O cuidador do idoso sob a ótica do enfermeiro no PSF

Abstract

The Family Health Program (FHP) is currently said to be the main strategy of primary health care organization in Brazil, with a multidisciplinary focus, among team members is the nursing professional who has a great responsibility to promote the health of the elderly. From the statistical data that demonstrate the growing elderly population, specifically Brazil is required a particularized and individualized service that is guaranteed by Law 8.842/94, the who has demonstrated the need for health professionals especially those in nursing adapt to reality. From this premise came interest in this study because nursing is a humanistic profession effectively, which can greatly contribute to the adjustment of these clients. The objective is therefore, drew up the goal: to conduct a review of the literature on caring for the elderly from the perspective of nurses in order to promote better and quality of life. The method used for study was a narrative review of literature whose methodological path to be traveled is based on selective readings and exploratory research material. The results show that the function of nurses is critical in enabling the caregivers of the elderly, the action is no longer centralized in one or a few professionals and shall be divided by those who have knowledge, competence and efficiency characteristic that will determine the quality of care the elderly. The presence of nurses is of fundamental importance in health education, aimed at disease prevention, promotion, maintenance and restoration of health of the elderly.
