| Abstract: | Sendo a leucoplasia a lesão pré-maligna que mais sofre transformação maligna seu estudo visa compreender melhor o seu comportamento na transformação maligna e o próprio câncer (CA) oral, visto que estas lesões pré-malignas estão presentes em até 60% junto ao CA oral. O desenvolvimento dos quimioterápicos dá oportunidade para o controle do CA por métodos não invasivos. O uso do licopeno inibe as células cancerosas humanas orais, induzindo sua apoptose. É apresentado um caso clínico de uma paciente atendida no Clínica de Estomatologia da Faculdade de Odontologia da Universidade de Minas Gerais (FOUFMG), onde esta paciente com diagnóstico clínico e histopatológico de Leucoplasia Bucal, medindo inicialmente 4,5cm, é tratada com o uso do licopeno de tomate. |
| Abstract: | Considering that leukoplakia is the premalignant lesion which suffers the most malignant transformation, the study aims to better understand their behavior in the malignant transformation and oral cancer(CA) itself, since these premalignant lesions are present in up to 60% with the oral CA. The development of chemotherapy provides an opportunity to control the CA by noninvasive methods. The use of lycopene inhibits human oral cancer cells, inducing apoptosis. A case report of a patient diagnosed with clinical and histopathological oral leukoplakia initially measuring 4.5 cm treated with the use of lycopene from tomatoes at the Service of Stomatology, School of Dentistry, Federal University of Minas Gerais (FOUFMG) is presented. |
