dc.description.abstractThe present study aims to analyze aspects related to bullying among students in public and private schools in Belo Horizonte. Data for this analysis were drawn from cross-sectional survey of Health Risks Research Teens in Belo Horizonte and its Determinants held between 2009 and 2012 by the Center - Health Promotion and Peace Department of Social and Preventive Medicine, Faculty of Medicine, Federal University Minas Gerais. The sample (n = 1216) was representative of the adolescent population of Belo Horizonte and calculated with 95 % confidence, controlling for the type II error of 5%. The results showed that : bullying is more common in private schools than in state and municipal schools , boys and girls are also victims , bullying is seen as a form of entertainment by the aggressors , the main form of bullying is to put nickname and / or exposed to ridicule. The study concluded that, behind a supposed joke, the practice of bullying between peers carries a strong symbolic and psychological violence. These violences are not as visible as physical and this makes identifying and combating bullying become more complicated.pt_BR
dc.description.resumoO presente estudo tem como objetivo analisar os aspectos relacionados com a prática do bullying entre estudantes de escolas públicas e privadas em Belo Horizonte. Os dados para esta análise foram extraídos da pesquisa transversal Investigação dos Riscos de Saúde em Adolescentes de Belo Horizonte e seus Determinantes realizada entre 2009 e 2012 pelo Núcleo- Promoção de Saúde e Paz do Departamento de Medicina Preventiva e Social da Faculdade de Medicina da Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais. A amostra (n=1216) foi representativa da população adolescente de Belo Horizonte e calculada com 95% de confiança, controlando-se o erro tipo II em 5%. Os resultados apontaram que: o bullying é mais frequente em escolas particulares do que nas escolas estaduais e municipais; meninos e meninas são vítimas igualmente; o bullying é encarado como uma forma de diversão pelos agressores; a principal forma da prática do bullying é colocar apelido e/ou expor ao ridículo. O estudo concluiu que, por trás de uma suposta brincadeira, a prática de intimidação entre pares carrega consigo uma intensa violência simbólica e psicológica. Essas violências não são tão visíveis quanto à física e isso faz com que a identificação e o combate ao bullying se tornem mais complicados.pt_BR
