Authors: | Bruno Costa Duarte |

A etiologia ainda é indefinida e multifatorial. Foram utilizadas as seguintes palavras chaves: patellofemoral, patellofemoral pain, patellofemoral dysfunction, patellofemoral syndrome, patellofemoral pain syndrome, physiotherapy of patellofemoral pain syndrome, factors associated with patellofemoral pain syndrome. |
Abstract: | Patellofemoral pain syndrome (PFS) is one of the most common painful disorders that affect the knee, comprising about 25% of the injuries; and the painful conditions related to the patellofemoral joint are the most common. It has an insidious onset, and is characterized by anterior or retropatellar pain, during functional activities, in the absence of other muscle squelletique injuries. Its etiology is still undifined and multifactorial. OBJECTIVE: to realize a sistematic review of the studies published in the last 15 years, in order to investigate which factors are more frequently associated to PFS. METODOLOGY: the search was done in the databases Medline, Scielo and Lilacs, on the period of time of 2000 to 2015. The following keywords were used: patellofemoral, patellofemoral pain, patellofemoral dysfunction, patellofemoral syndrome, patellofemoral pain syndrome, physiotherapy of patellofemoral pain syndrome, factors associated with patellofemoral pain syndrome. These words were searched in English, without restrictions on the articles publication date. During the search, the articles that comprise the factors associated to patellofemoral syndrome (PFS) were selected. RESULTS: a total of 21347 articles were searched, 165 were potencially eligible and among them a total of 21 articles were selected. National and international texts and without an specific publication date were used, but they comprised patellofemoral pain syndrome (PFS). CONCLUSION: patellofemoral pain syndromes etiology seems to be multifactorial and it is not totally known, which could explain the percentage distribution variability of the data found on the several studies. |
