Title: | A importância da promoção de saúde bucal nas escolas |

Abstract: | Apesar da prática odontológica ainda se concentrar no atendimento individualizado cirúrgico-restaurador, a prevenção de doenças bucais tem se apresentado como uma forma mais eficaz de promover a saúde bucal. Muitos trabalhos educativos e preventivos vêm sendo realizados dentro de instituições de ensino transmitindo informações sobre o cuidado de sua higiene bucal. A Escola é, por excelência, um local adequado para o desenvolvimento de programas em saúde e higiene bucal por reunir escolares com faixas etárias propícias à adoção de medidas educativas e preventivas. A importância da introdução sobre os cuidados com a higiene bucal nos primeiros anos de vida escolar é justificada pelo fato de as crianças estarem em fase de descobertas e em processo de aprendizagem. A presente monografia tem por objetivo realizar uma revisão narrativa da literatura sobre a importância da promoção em saúde bucal nas Escolas, seu histórico de implantação no Brasil, suas correntes pedagógicas principais e o valor da categoria motivação para o sucesso de um programa de educação em saúde no ambiente escolar. Para tanto empreendeu-se uma busca na base de dados Medline, Lilacs e BBO de 1966 a 2012 empregando-se os seguintes descritores: Promoção de Saúde; Saúde Bucal; Escolas. Os artigos revelam que hábitos saudáveis devem ser ensinados desde a mais tenra idade e a escola é um lugar por excelência para que este processo seja iniciado. Conclui-se que a educação em saúde e adoção de hábitos como higienização bucal e alimentação saudável devem fazer parte do cotidiano escolar desde a pré-escola. |
Abstract: | Although the dental practice has to focus on individualized care-restorative surgery, prevention of oral diseases has emerged as a most effective way to promote oral health. Much educational and preventive work has been conducted in educational institutionsimparting information about the care of their oral hygiene. Schools are, par excellence, a place for the development of programs in health and oral hygiene for bringing to school age conducive to the adoption of preventive and educational measures. The introduction on the importance of oral hygiene care in the first years of school life is justified by the fact that children are in the process of discovery and learning process. This monograph aims to conduct a narrative review of the literature on the importance of oral health promotion in schools, its historic deployment in Brazil, its main pedagogical trends and the value of the category "motivation" for the success of an education program health in the school environment. To do a search was undertaken in the Medline, Lilacs and BBO 1966 to 2012 using the following descriptors: Health Promotion, Oral Health, Schools. The articles reveal that healthy habits should be taught from an early age and the school is a place of excellence for this process is started. It is concluded that health education and adoption of habits such as oral hygiene and healthy eating should be part of school life from pre-school |
