Abstract: | Este trabalho tem como foco principal a tradução completa da peça Hercules Furens, de Sêneca, acompanhada de prefácio, mapa e glossário dos termos referentes à mitologia que aparecem na peça. A tradução, que tem por título Hércules Possuído, apropria-se dos aspectos poéticos e dramáticos da peça latina, para recriá-los em língua portuguesa, visando tornar o texto acessível ao leitor leigo. Compreendida ela própria como forma crítica, a tradução é acompanhada de algumas análises teóricas. O primeiro capítulo versa sobre o teatro em Roma até o século I, sobre a vida e a obra de Sêneca, a filosofia e a política na vida do autor, e sobre suas tragédias. O segundo aborda o contexto de publicação dessas tragédias e a performance, nas recitationes, e a apropriação das tragédias de Sêneca pela tradição dramatúrgica ocidental. O último dos capítulos teóricos debate questões levantadas pelo processo de tradução poética do Hercules Furens, incluindo as referências mitológicas e a tradução dos nomes próprios, a tradução de vocabulário abstrato, a exemplo das palavras uirtus e furor, a tradução de versos metrificados e sua abordagem formal e funcional. O trabalho apresenta ainda a escansão de todos os versos da peça Hercules Furens. |
Abstract: | This study contains a complete translation of the Senecan play Hercules Furens, sided by a preface, a map and a glossary of mythological names and expressions referred to in the play. The translation, named Hércules Possuído, tries to get poetic and dramatic aspects of the Latin text and recreate them into Brazilian Portuguese, amplifying access to the text in its most important characteristics. The translation is understood itself as criticism, and sided by theoretical essays. The first theoretical essay focuses on the Roman theater upto first century; Senecan life and works; political and philosophical aspects of the author's life, and Senecan tragedies. The second essay discusses the publishing of Senecan tragedies at his time and their performance in the recitationes, as well as the Senecan tragedies in western dramatic tradition. The last chapter focuses the poetic translation and the questions it demands, as mythological references and the translation of the names; translation of abstract vocabulary, such as uirtus and furor; translation of metrical verses; formal and functional translation of the meters. There is also a graphic scanning of each verse of the play. |
